Overview

Every day, the healthcare industry experiences medical errors and poor systems that threaten the safety of the patients it serves. To prevent these incidents and threats, healthcare providers must work toward an enhanced delivery care system, with streamlined processes and shared information.

To help healthcare providers meet this goal, the Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care coordinated a needs assessment for the state’s critical access hospitals in fall 2006. The assessments helped each hospital identify its patient safety priorities, characteristics of its patient safety culture and helpful resources.

This Web site is a collection of the resources and results from these initial hospital assessments. Special thanks to the Arkansas providers who shared many of the tools on this site.
